Web Groupware
Groupware is a generic name for a software package that enables a number of users to share certain resources. Usually these resources are addressbooks, scheduling systems, messaging systems and announcement systems. A user connected to a groupware suite can see all addresses from addresbooks (or a limited set according to its rights), all appointements or bookings (or a limited set) and so forth. When one of the users enters a new resource (contact, booking or appointement) this will became visible by all the users thus allowing a more eficient planning of activities.
Due to its high availability, the WEB is an excelent communication tool also for groupware. Web Groupware packages are specially designed to distribute the groupware tools over the Internet and to make them available using an Internet browser.
Sometimes only a subset of these resources are needed. Enterprise calendars are an example. Bookmark systems are another example. These components can be implemented separately if needed.
